At Alliance Coconut Grove, we firmly believe in the power of martial arts training, particularly Jiu Jitsu. As a school focused purely on BJJ, we have seen firsthand the benefits that are realized by our students.

The physical gains are unquestionable – Jiu Jitsu competitors can lose weight, increase coordination and mobility, and see overall improvement in health. But participating in Jiu Jitsu classes has many mental benefits as well. You’ll feel better about yourself, improve your focus, and be more disciplined. We even find that kids who train Jiu Jitsu do better in school and improve their grades!

Our BJJ programs are structured and technique-driven while also making sure students have fun. This balance ensures that students are learning every time they come through the door, and always wanting to come back. We pride ourselves on professionalism and providing the highest quality Jiu Jitsu instruction in the Miami, Florida area!

Alliance Jiu Jitsu is part of the Alliance jiu jitsu association, founded in 1993 by Romero “Jacare” Cavalcanti, Fabio Gurgel, and Alexandre Paiva. One of the most historic and decorated Brazilian Jiu Jitsu associations in existence, Alliance has produced hundreds of World Champions. Recognized for their technicality, professionalism, and high-quality BJJ instruction, Alliance Jiu Jitsu is proud to be part of the Alliance association and carry on these traditions.

Originally opened in 2020, Alliance Jiu Jitsu is currently run by head instructor Desiree Favoreto.

A BJJ Black Belt, Desiree joined the Alliance Coconut Grove family in December 2021. Desiree is a fierce competitor who has earned numerous medals including double gold at the 2022 IBJJF Pan American Championship. She utilizes her competitive experience in her teaching, working hard to pass on the knowledge she has gained. Desiree’s life changed when she started training Jiu Jitsu. She wants to change her students’ lives too!
